Psalm 32:1 – 5
Psalm 32:1 – 5 The Joy of Forgiveness
1Happy are those whose transgression is forgiven,
whose sin is covered.
2Happy are those to whom the Lord imputes no iniquity,
and in whose spirit there is no deceit.
3While I kept silence, my body wasted away
through my groaning all day long.
4For day and night your hand was heavy upon me;
my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer.
5Then I acknowledged my sin to you,
and I did not hide my iniquity;
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”
and you forgave the guilt of my sin.
I pondered a bit on this, how can Jesus so easily forgive but I can’t. I want to be blessed.
Then I had to be honest with myself. I am not perfect, I have probably hurt someone(s) in the past, either knowingly or unknown. I hope those who I hurt unknowingly will and have forgiving me. Those I have knowingly hurt I apologize. May I find the strength to reach out and personally apologize. .
My biggest fear is the unknowing hurts. How can I ask for forgiveness if I don’t know I need to ask. May they be like me, having learned to let go of those hurts that I chose not to address. If you don’t tell the person they have hurt you, then how can you not forgive them.
To those who have chosen to forgive – may you find your reward in heaven. To those who need to forgive be reminded of what Jesus said:
- “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.” Matthew 6:14-15
